The Lafayette (Ind.) Symphony Orchestra has announced the appointment of SARA MUMMEY as executive director. Since February 2011 she had been serving as assistant director and operations manager; as the orchestra’s top executive she succeeds KEN BOOTSMA, who served as executive director for five years until last year and then returned as interim executive director while the orchestra conducted a national search for his permanent successor. A native of Lafayette, Mummey served for four years as an assistant manager at Lafayette Bank & Trust before joining the orchestra staff. Her local arts background includes volunteer service with the Civic Theater of Greater Lafayette; as a member of the Public Relations and Advertising Committee of Tippy Connect Young Professionals; and as a campaign representative for United Way of Greater Lafayette. Mummey is a graduate of DePauw University (Greencastle, Ind.) with a degree in music education.
