The Hartt School of the University of Hartford (Conn.) has named VANESSA L. BOND assistant professor of music education, effective with the start of the 2012-13 academic year in September. She has presented workshops for such organizations as the Cleveland Orchestra,  Cleveland Music Settlement, and Cleveland Institute of Music. Her background also includes teaching voice at Pennsylvania’s Gettysburg College and both general and vocal music in the Montgomery County (Md.) elementary schools. She was formerly a professional chorister with the Master Chorale of Washington (D.C.) Bond holds a Ph.D. in music education from Cleveland’s Case Western Reserve University, a master’s degree in vocal performance and pedagogy from Pennsylvania State University, and a bachelor’s in music education from Gettysburg College.
