Duain Wolfe, chorus director of the Colorado Symphony and music director of the Chicago Symphony Chorus, has been awarded the 2012 Michael Korn Founders Award for Development of the Professional Choral Art. The award was given by Chorus America, which established the annual honorary citation in 1978 and renamed it after Michael Korn—a founder of Chorus America and founder/artistic director of the Philadelphia Singers—in 1991, after Korn’s death at age 44. Wolfe is in his 28th season leading the Colorado Symphony Chorus, and his eighteenth season with the Chicago Symphony Chorus. Wolfe was a conductor of Colorado’s Central City Opera Festival for 20 years, and he has directed and prepared choruses for Chicago’s Ravinia Festival and the Grand Teton Music Festival in Wyoming. He is also founder/director of the Colorado Children’s Chorale; he retired from the latter post in 1999.
