The nonprofit organization Americans for the Arts has released an economic impact study finding that the nonprofits arts-and-culture industry generated $68.3 million in annual economic activity in Lee County, Florida in 2010. The study—Arts & Economic Prosperity IV: The Economic Impact of Nonprofit Arts and Culture Organizations and Their Audiences in Lee County—was conducted in partnership with Lee County Alliance for the Arts and covers an area including Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Estero, and Bonita Springs. Other findings from the study were that arts-and-culture organizations supported 2,038 full-time equivalent jobs; total attendance at arts events was 1.9 million; and that the average amount spent on meals/souvenirs/transportation/lodging per arts-and-culture event was $23.23. Revenues in 2010 for local government were $3.6 million, while revenues to state government were $5.8 million. More information on the study can be found at ArtInLee.org.
