The Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra (LACO) has announced four additions to its musician roster: ROBERT BROPHY, viola; SANDY HUGHES, flute; CARRIE KENNEDY, violin II; and JOEL PARGMAN, violin II. Brophy has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Opera, and in numerous West Coast chamber music series. A member of the New Hollywood String Quartet, he holds degrees from the Royal Northern College of Music (Manchester, England) and Rice University in Houston. Hughes, a member of Hollywood Soloists, has served as second flute with the Akron (Ohio) Symphony and appears frequently with the New York Philharmonic. She holds a master’s degree in orchestral performance from Manhattan School of Music, a bachelor’s degree in English literature from the University of Hartford, and a bachelor’s in flute performance from The Hartt School at the University of Hartford. Kennedy is a member of numerous West Coast organizations including the New West, Long Beach, and Pasadena symphonies, and she has performed as violin soloist throughout the U.S. She holds a Master of Music degree from the State University of New York-Stony Brook and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Southern California (USC). Pargman, who has performed as a frequent guest with LACO, is a member of the Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra, the Pasadena Symphony, and the Musica Angelica Baroque Orchestra. A summa cum laude graduate of USC, he was a Tanglewood Music Center Fellow and a member of TMC’s new-music quartet, the New Fromm Players. He has also spent summers at Aspen Music Festival and School, Encore School for Strings, Indiana University String Academy, and the Académie Musicale de Villecroze. He is married to LACO violinist Carrie Kennedy.
