New York-based radio station WQXR is holding an all-day marathon today, November 13, devoted to composer Elliott Carter, who died on November 5 at age 103. The marathon, which is being streamed at Q2, WQXR’s online station devoted to contemporary music, is hosted by violinist and Q2 host Nadia Sirota. Components of the marathon include a 2008 conversation, “Elliott Carter at 100,” with Terrance McKnight and Nadia Sirota (8-10 a.m. and 6-8 p.m. ET); “Hammered! Elliott Carter’s Piano Music” (10-11 a.m. ET); a segment hosted by Suzanne Farrin (11 a.m.-1 p.m. ET); and a 2008 performance of Carter’s clarinet quintet by the Juilliard String Quartet and clarinetist Charles Neidich.
