The postmark date is January 18 for applications to the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra’s Orchestra Training Program for African American Musicians (OTPAAM). Every two years, the program awards a fellowship to a musician between age 18 and 30 to help prepare for a career in a professional orchestra. Those selected work with musicians of the PSO and also receive education and community engagement opportunities, as well as audition training. Fellowships include an annual stipend, payment toward health insurance, audition expenses, and professional development. The PSO’s most recent OTPAAM Fellow, Ryan Murphy, is now a cellist with the San Antonio Symphony. More information on the program is available at the PSO website.
