Wednesday (1/16) in a Crain’s Chicago Business blog post, Greg Hinz writes, “The Chicago Symphony Orchestra is headed west—to the Morton Arboretum. Confirming a step first forecast here, CSO’s parent, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association, announced Wednesday night that it will hold five concerts at the Morton Arboretum in DuPage County on June 27, 29 and 30. The programs will be on the light side, with one featuring movie-music composer John Williams, of ‘Star Wars’ and ‘E.T.’ fame, and the other concerts aimed at children, including a performance of ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears.’ For now, the DuPage series is a one-shot event. And CSO President Deborah Rutter suggested in a statement that it will not come at the expense of the orchestra’s traditional Ravinia summer season. ‘We believe there are many opportunities to reach new audiences and develop new relationships with potential patrons in Chicago’s western suburbs,’ Ms. Rutter said. … A spokesman added that the orchestra is not reducing its Symphony Hall dates to accommodate the DuPage concerts.”
