Music often inspires artistic responses in other media. That’s what happened when 25 middle school students in New Jersey created works of visual art inspired by Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade after hearing the Princeton Symphony perform the score. The students’ artworks, on display through January 25 at the Arts Council of Princeton’s Paul Robeson Center for the Arts, are showcased on SymphonyNOW, where the students talk about the music and the art.
Also this week, Oberlin Conservatory musicians blog about their experiences on the Conservatory’s 2013 Illumination Tour, January 15-19, which brings together students, faculty, and esteemed alumni. In the U.K., a new project looks to modify instruments so they can be played by people with the use of only one arm.
