Arizona Musicfest, a late-winter festival of classical, chamber, jazz, blues, country, rock, and opera music based in Carefree, Arizona, has announced the appointment of ALLAN E. NAPLAN as executive director, effective February 1. He served most recently as president and general director of Minnesota Opera. Previous posts include director of artistic administration, Pittsburgh Opera and general director, Madison Opera. Naplan began his career as an opera singer and made the transition to administration as a staff member at Houston Grand Opera. He is also an educator and a published composer whose catalogue includes works for children’s chorus. Naplan holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Ithaca College, where he majored in vocal performance and music education.
