Friday (3/29) on WMFD.com (Northeast Ohio), Brigitte Coles reports, “A local violinist who plays with the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra has been chosen as the new director for the Mansfield Symphony Youth Strings. Matthew Domka will take over this summer, replacing Youth Strings Director Percy Hall who is retiring. Domka is a graduate of Ohio State with a major in music education and violin. He has worked with the Columbus Junior Strings orchestra, now called Cadet Orchestra, and taught orchestra for several years at John Simpson Middle School in Mansfield. The Youth Strings program is an education initiative of the Mansfield Symphony, supported by the Ohio Arts Council and part of the Mechanics Bank Education Series. It serves over 50 students in grades 6-10 from Richland and surrounding counties.”
