Boosey & Hawkes, the New World Symphony, the San Francisco Symphony, and conductor Michael Tilson Thomas have announced the selection of CYNTHIA LEE WONG as the second annual New Voices composer. Her multi-organizational New Voices residency will provide Wong with such career-development opportunities as working with a publisher, workshopping new compositions, and premiering new work with the San Francisco and New World symphonies as well as in chamber settings. Wong is the recipient of three ASCAP Foundation Morton Gould Young Composers Awards and prizes from The Juilliard School, the City University of New York (CUNY), and Columbia University. A native of New York and currently on the faculty of CUNY’s Baruch College, she has composed works for a variety of organizations including the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, the La Jolla Music Society, and Tanglewood Music Festival. Her composition teachers have included David Del Tredici, Samuel Adler, and Milton Babbitt.
