In Thursday’s (8/15) Telegraph (Nashua, New Hampshire), Kathleen Palmer writes about a free outdoor pops concert by Symphony NH this weekend. “It’s been more than a decade since Symphony NH performed at Holman Stadium. That’s about to change this weekend.… ‘The last time we performed at Holman Stadium, it was a wind-band concert of patriotic songs; a military salute,’ said Eric Valliere, executive director of Symphony NH.… ‘It’s really expensive to put on a concert, and without ticket sales, you have to cover expenses. Our Indiegogo campaign raised about a third of the money online, and then we went to the sponsors. Citizens Bank Foundation provided half the total funding needed, and the city and the Nashua Arts Commission paid for the rest.’ … ‘We’ve wanted to do something like this for the whole community for quite a while,” [conductor Jonathan] McPhee said. “It’s a great way to bring people together, to share music, and the support we’ve gotten from the city and our sponsors has been really terrific. It should be a lot of fun, and a wonderful way for people to get to know what we do, too.’ … The article also covers some of Symphony NH’s free music programs for families and high school students during the 2013-14 season.
