SAMUEL S. HOLLAND has been named dean of the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, where he will also hold the Algur H. Meadows Chair. He has been associated with the school for more than 20 years, most recently as director of the Music Division and, since July 2014, as interim dean. Holland joined the Meadows music faculty in 1991 as head of piano pedogogy and director of the Piano Preparatory Department. He had earlier taught at the University of Kentucky School of Music and at Rider University’s Westminster Choir College in Princeton, N.J. Holland holds a bachelor’s degree in applied music from the University of Texas at Austin; a master’s in applied music from the University of Houston; and Ph.D. in music education with an emphasis in piano pedagogy from the University of Oklahoma.
