David Nygren, board president of the Ojai (Calif.) Music Festival, has announced that THOMAS W. MORRIS’s contract as artistic director has been extended through July 2021, the festival’s 75th anniversary season. Morris has directed Ojai since 2004. He was a founding director of Spring for Music, the festival of North American orchestras that Carnegie Hall presented annually from 2011 to 2014, and was executive director of the Cleveland Orchestra from 1987 to 2004. Between 1969 and 1985 Morris served in several capacities at the Boston Symphony Orchestra, where in 1978 he was named to the newly created post of general manager, with overall responsibility for the BSO, Boston Pops, Boston Symphony Chamber Players, Symphony Hall, and Tanglewood.
