JAMES DANE HARVEY has been appointed executive director of North Carolina’s Salisbury Symphony Orchestra, effective June 1. He succeeds Linda Jones, who has retired after fourteen years in the position. Harvey holds a bachelor of music degree from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, a master’s degree in cultural policy and arts administration from Goldsmiths College, University of London, and a master of philosophy in arts, culture, and education from the University of Cambridge, where his thesis focused on the popularization of classical music. While in London, he worked in public relations and marketing campaigns for entertainment organizations and West End musicals. He served as managing director of Yale Opera at Yale University and as production coordinator for Central City Opera in Colorado. The Salisbury Symphony’s 51st season begins on July 1.
