JAMES WILLIAM BOYD has been named director of artistic operations at the Tucson Symphony. He is a 2010 graduate of the League of American Orchestras’ Orchestra Management Fellowship Program, where he received twelve months of in-field training at Aspen Music Festival and School and the Pacific, Memphis, and Saint Louis symphony orchestras. Boyd had earlier served as CEO of the Salem Chamber Orchestra in his native Oregon, and of Opera Western Reserve in Youngstown, Ohio. An accomplished clarinetist, he has performed with orchestras and chamber ensembles throughout the United States and Italy and served as adjunct faculty at both Youngstown State University and Westminster College (New Wilmington, Pa.). Boyd is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon School of Music.
