MARK CANTRELL has been named executive director of the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra in Madison, effective September 1. A bass trombonist who has played for the Boston Ballet, Boston Lyric Opera, and Boston Pops, Cantrell has served as executive director of the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra since 2010. His background also includes eight years as personnel manager for the Boston Pops. During a five-year hiatus from the performing arts, Cantrell served as a captain for United Express Airlines. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Boston University.
