On September 17, the Alabama Symphony Orchestra presented its first sensory-friendly concert, “Follow Your Dreams,” in partnership with ASO Junior Patrons and KultureCity, a Birmingham-based nonprofit supporting people with autism. The concert at Birmingham’s Alys Stephens Center was open to the public and designed to be accessible for those on the autism spectrum and others with sensory sensitivities related to a disability. Lighting and volume adjustments were made, and concertgoers were able to move about the auditorium during the concert of classical favorites by Mozart, Beethoven, and Tchaikovsky.
