Applications are due Monday, April 8 for Essentials of Orchestra Management, the League of American Orchestras’ immersive professional-development seminar, which will take place in Los Angeles from July 8 to 18, hosted by the University of Southern California Arts Leadership Program at the Thornton School of Music. Over ten days of interactive workshops, field trips, management scenarios, and more, aspiring orchestra managers will get the knowledge and tools required to become effective administrators and leaders. They’ll learn all aspects of orchestra administration under the guidance of prominent leaders from inside and outside the orchestra world. Essentials is open to early-career professionals, musicians, graduate students, career changers, and experienced administrators who wish to expand and deepen their knowledge of orchestral management. The League especially encourages candidates from diverse backgrounds to apply. Scholarships are available; half of 2018 Essentials participants received financial aid.
