The Cape Conservatory in Hyannis, Massachusetts has named MARK MILLER as music director of the Cape Youth Orchestra, beginning in September 2019. The Cape Conservatory and Symphony is the parent organization of the Cape Youth Orchestra and the professional Cape Symphony, where Miller is principal clarinet. Miller has spent 30 years on the conducting staff of the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras, where he currently conducts the Repertory Orchestra. He conducts and coaches orchestras at Boston University and Harvard, and has worked with other college, community, and youth orchestras. As a clarinetist, he has performed with the Plymouth Philharmonic, Simon Sinfonietta, and the New Bedford Symphony and teaches clarinet privately. He holds degrees in composition and clarinet performance from Florida State University and a master’s degree in composition from Boston University.
