Indiana’s Fort Wayne Philharmonic has appointed CHIA-HSUAN LIN assistant conductor. She will serve as cover conductor and lead a variety of non-subscription concerts and educational events this season, including a series of regional Holiday Pops concerts beginning November 29 and a pops concert in January. A native of Taiwan, Lin began her musical training in piano at age three, took up percussion at age nine, and performed with the Taipei Percussion Group from 2003 to 2010. She earned an undergraduate degree in percussion and a graduate degree in conducting at National Taiwan Normal University, with further training at the Conductor Institute of Bard College (Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y.) and at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. In 2012 she received a Foreign Study Award for Music from the Taiwan Education Bureau to begin doctoral studies in conducting with Victor Yampolsky at Northwestern University.
