DANIEL BLACK has been named assistant conductor of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, following two years as the orchestra’s assistant conductor. Recipient of a 2016 Solti Foundation Career Assistance Award, Black also holds posts as music director of the Oshkosh (Wis.) Symphony Orchestra and director of instrumental music at the Wildwood Arts and Music Academy in Little Rock, Ark. He has served as assistant conductor at Spoleto Festival USA and the Peninsula Music Festival, and as conductor of the Rockford (Ill.) Symphony Youth Orchestra. Black was a conducting fellow at Aspen Music Festival and the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music. As a composer he has received commissions from such organizations as the Rockford Symphony Orchestra and the Eastman Wind Ensemble.
