PAOLO BORTOLAMEOLLI will continue as assistant conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic through the 2018-19 season, serving as cover conductor for Music Director Gustavo Dudamel and guest conductors. Bortolameolli, who was appointed in the 2017-18 season, was a Dudamel Fellow during in 2016-17. He makes his debut in the Hollywood Bowl’s classical series on August 2, conducting the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Bortolameolli was the 2017 guest conductor in residence with YOA Orchestra of the Americas and a semifinalist in the 2016 Mahler Competition. He was assistant conductor of the Yale Philharmonia, cover conductor at the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in 2014-15, and principal conductor of the New Haven Chamber Orchestra during the 2012-13 season. In 2013, he debuted with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Santiago (Chile), and has since conducted orchestras throughout Chile. Bortolameolli holds a master of music degree in orchestral conducting from the Yale School of Music and a graduate performance diploma from the Peabody Institute. Bortolameolli graduated from the Arts Faculty of the University of Chile and from the Universidad Católica de Chile, where he studied piano.
