Orchestre symphonique de Montréal has announced the appointment of DINA GILBERT as assistant conductor, effective in September at the start of the 2013-14 season. Born in the Beauce region of eastern Québec, Gilbert is founder and artistic director of Ensemble Arkea, a Montréal-based chamber orchestra. She has conducted orchestras in Romania and Estonia as well as at l’Université de Montréal, where she recently completed doctoral studies with Jean-François Rivest. Gilbert holds a bachelor’s degree in clarinet and a master’s in conducting.
