The New Hampshire Music Festival, which presents concerts during July and August at Silver Center for the Arts on the campus of Plymouth State University, has announced the appointment of DONATO CABRERA as its sixth music director. He will hold this post in addition to his current responsibilities as music director of the Green Bay (Wis.) Symphony, resident conductor of the San Francisco Symphony, and Wattis Foundation Music Director of the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra. Cabrera’s previous posts include associate conductor, San Francisco Opera; cover conductor, Metropolitan Opera; and assistant conductor, Ravinia, Spoleto (Italy), and Aspen music festivals. In 2002 he was a Herbert von Karajan Conducting Fellow at the Salzburg Festival in Austria, and is a co-founder of the New York-based American Contemporary Music Ensemble. Cabrera hold degrees from the University of Nevada and the University of Illinois, and pursued graduate studies in conducting at Indiana University and Manhattan School of Music.
