TEREN SHAFFER has been named associate conductor and general manager of California’s Orange County Youth Symphony Orchestra, effective July 1. He is a recent graduate of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where he earned a master’s degree in orchestral conducting. Shaffer has also received training from such conductors as Gustav Meier, Daniel Alfred Wachs, Kenneth Kiesler, and Harold Farberman, and has served as cover conductor for the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra and Sinfonia Gulf Coast (Walton, Fla.). He holds bachelor’s degrees in instrumental conducting, music education, and bassoon performance from Chapman University Conservatory of Music in Orange, Calif.
