PETER OUNDJIAN, music director of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra since 2004, and of Glasgow’s Royal Scottish National Orchestra since 2012, has been named to an additional post as principal conductor of the Yale Philharmonia in New Haven, Conn. In this capacity he will be continuing his nearly 35-year affiliation with the Yale School of Music, shaping the Philharmonia’s artistic identity, leading it in performance, and participating in the admissions process and curriculum for the school’s orchestral conducting program. A native of England and former first violinist in the Tokyo String Quartet, Oundjian served as principal guest conductor of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra from 2006 to 2010, and was artistic director of the Caramoor Music Festival (Katonah, N.Y.) from 1997 to 2007.
