On Thursday, January 10, bassist Xavier Foley, winner of the 2018 Avery Fisher Career Grant, will be featured on the NYC-ARTS program on public television’s Thirteen/WNET. Foley was a first-prize winner of the 2014 Sphinx Competition, Young Concert Artists Auditions in 2016, and a winner of the Astral Artists National Auditions in 2014. He has appeared as soloist with the Sphinx and Atlanta symphony orchestras, Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Nashville Symphony. He performed in Carnegie Hall as principal bass of the New York String Seminar Orchestra, later making his solo debut at Carnegie Hall with Sphinx Virtuosi. Foley is a 2016 graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music. Following the 8 p.m. January 10 broadcast on Thirteen/WNET, the program will be available at https://www.nyc-arts.org/.
