The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra (NY) has partnered with WNED PBS Buffalo-Toronto Public Media to present “BPO Musician Portraits with JoAnn Falletta,” a four-part series of television specials on WNED PBS featuring select musicians from the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. The intimate concerts, introduced by Buffalo Philharmonic Music Director JoAnn Falletta, feature performances by Concertmaster Nikki Chooi; Principal Cello Roman Mekinulov and pianist Eric Huebner; Associate Principal Cello Feng Hew and violinist Shieh-Jian Tsai; and Principal Harp Madeline Olson. WNED PBS will premiere the half-hour “BPO Musician Portraits with JoAnn Falletta” on Monday, June 15 at 7:30 p.m. with a performance of Rachmaninoff’s Cello Sonata featuring Roman Mekinulov, BPO principal cellist, and Eric Huebner, University at Buffalo professor and principal pianist of the New York Philharmonic. The recordings are being created at WNED PBS studios following social distancing protocols. New episodes will air each Monday through July 6 on WNED PBS at 7:30 p.m. A marathon of all four episodes will be broadcast on Sunday, July 5 from 4 to 6 p.m.
