The Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra will perform an all-American program entitled “Crossing Musical Borders” on February 19 at Rudder Theatre at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Music Director Marcelo Bussiki will lead performances of The White Peacock by Charles Griffes (1884-1920), as well as Lukas Foss’s Night Music for John Lennon and Three Pieces from Schindler’s List by John Williams. The program will feature a world premiere, The Remanent of Everything by Chicago bassist Matt Ulery, also featuring vocalist Grazyna Auguscik, pianist Rob Clearfield, and percussionist Michael Caskey from Ulery’s band Loom. Included on the program are orchestrations of three Ulery works written for Loom: Somebody Somewhere, There’s a Reason and a Thousand Ways, and Pictures in Grey. Each season, the BVSO performs five classical subscription concerts, two children’s concerts, and a free outdoor performance in the Brazos Valley area, comprising Texas A&M University and the cities of Bryan and College Station. The orchestra’s executive director is Mary Koeninger.
