Indiana’s Fort Wayne Philharmonic has named current Associate Conductor CALEB YOUNG to the newly created position of guest conductor for engagement. Young has served as the orchestra’s associate conductor for the past five years, leading more than 200 performances. In his new capacity, Young will continue to assist in planning and conducting Sweetwater Pops Series concerts, lead the Fort Wayne Philharmonic and Fort Wayne Ballet in the April 2022 production of The Sleeping Beauty, and continue to advise in the development of the orchestra’s education and new engagement programs. Based in Berlin, Young was awarded the 2016 Ansbacher Fellowship for Young Conductors Prize at the Salzburg Festival. Young debuted with the Van Cliburn Competition as its cover conductor in 2018 and returns in 2022. He has led the Oregon Symphony, Russian National Orchestra, Finnish Chamber Orchestra, Toledo Symphony, Columbus Symphony, and the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. As cover conductor, he has worked with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Detroit Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony, St. Louis Symphony, and Atlanta Opera.
