Luna Composition Lab, a New York City-based program intended to inspire girls and young women to compose music, is accepting score submissions for the 2018-19 school year from composers who identify as female or gender non-conforming, from eighth grade to college freshmen. The application deadline is October 22, and accepted students will be notified by October 29. There is a registration fee of $40 and tuition fee of $600 for participants, with scholarships available to those who qualify. Luna Composition Lab is in its second year at the Kaufman Music Center. The program is led by mentor composers Missy Mazzoli, Ellen Reid, Reena Esmail, Kristin Kuster, Gity Razaz, and Tamar Muskal. During the school year, young female composers will create new pieces of music to be performed in June.
