On January 26 from 2 to 4 p.m., the Capital Philharmonic of New Jersey will present its inaugural Youth Orchestra Festival in the War Memorial in Trenton. Three independently operated youth orchestras in New Jersey will participate in the festival: the Greater Princeton Youth Orchestra, the Youth Orchestra of Central Jersey, and Bravura Youth Orchestra. Music educators will evaluate each performance and make constructive written comments, and performances will be recorded. The panel will include Uli Speth, concertmaster of the Binghamton (NY) Philharmonic Orchestra; Sandra Dackow, music director of the William Patterson University Orchestra and Hershey Symphony Orchestra; and Eduard Schmieder, artistic director of the Venice International Violin Institute and music director of the iPalpiti Chamber Orchestra in Los Angeles. Daniel Spalding is music director of the Capital Philharmonic of New Jersey, formed in 2013 from musicians of the defunct Greater Trenton Symphony Orchestra.
