Just prior to the Americans for the Arts Annual Convention, which takes place in Pittsburgh from June 14 to 16, Carnegie Mellon University will host a day of lectures and discussions at the Purnell Center for the Arts and College of Fine Arts. The preconference on June 13 focuses on trends faced by emerging leaders in the arts field and will feature keynote speaker Richard Evans, president of EmcArts, the nonprofit service organization that promotes innovation and serves as an intermediary for arts funders. Also scheduled to participate in the sessions are arts leaders and Carnegie Mellon alumni, with topics to include change management theory, leadership practices, and skills needed to work more effectively with internal organizational staff and external partners. The preconference coincides with the 25th anniversary of Carnegie Mellon’s Master of Arts management program.
