Thursday (12/15) on the Los Angeles Times blog Culture Monster, Chris Barton writes, “Adding to an already busy schedule that includes serving as artistic director for New York’s Jazz at Lincoln Center as well as recording and touring with its roving Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, trumpeter-composer Wynton Marsalis is moving to network TV early next year with a position as cultural correspondent for CBS News. Marsalis will appear on ‘CBS This Morning’ beginning on Monday, Jan. 16, in conjunction with the observance of Martin Luther King’s birthday, and plans are for him to also appear on ‘CBS Sunday Morning’ covering developments in culture and education. In the past, Marsalis has appeared on ‘60 Minutes,’ and that’s his trumpet on the theme for ‘Sunday Morning,’ so he’s not an entirely new face for the network.”
