On Wednesday (7/16) at Cincinnati radio station WCPO, Jesse Folk writes, “When thousands of music fans head to Over-the-Rhine’s Washington Park for the LumenoCity performance, they’ll be able to beat the heat with a special brew from the Christian Moerlein Brewing Company. Christian Moerlein teamed up with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra to make a special beer just for the Aug. 1-3 event. The result is the LumenoCity Pale Ale. The beer was a collaboration between CSO Music Director Louis Langrée and CMBC Head Brewer Matthew Utter…. Christian Moerlein owner Greg Hardman said … the CSO was very hands on during the creation of the beer and the partnership. Langrée was actually on hand during the brewing of the beer and helped with the hop addition. Utter handled the recipe formulation but Hardman said Langrée also helped with testing and planning the concept of the pale ale. ‘It really was two conductors artfully crafting a beer,’ Hardman said. Organizers said the concept of the beer was … to start a grassroots program for local businesses to become involved in LumenoCity…. Participating businesses, including Christian Moerlein, will donate a portion of the proceeds to the CSO in support of its programming.”
