“The Cleveland Orchestra said it has formed a new group, called ‘The Circle,’ aimed at young professionals,” writes Scott Suttell in Tuesday’s (1/14) Crain’s Cleveland Business (Ohio). “According to an orchestra news release … it seeks to ‘increase engagement opportunities for young people ages 21-40 and to help develop future volunteer community leaders.’ Members will receive ‘exclusive access to the orchestra, with opportunities to meet musicians and socialize at Severance Hall and Blossom Music Center.’ … Membership also includes ‘bi-monthly concert tickets … and social gatherings to network with friends and cultural business leaders.’ Cost of membership in The Circle is $15 per month for one membership and $20 per month for two memberships and includes bi-monthly tickets. New members join for a minimum of six months. ‘The Circle’ launches officially at a reception this Friday, Jan. 17, prior to the orchestra’s concert conducted by Franz Welser-Möst with Yefim Bronfman…. In December, leaders of The Circle held a launch event at Great Lakes Brewing Co. in Cleveland. Mackenzie Hutton, president of The Circle … said the Great Lakes Brewing Co. event ‘was the perfect way to introduce our new group and we are excited to hold our first event at Severance Hall.’ ”
