Massimo La Rosa, principal trombone of the Cleveland Orchestra, has released Cantando, his debut CD. The CD features standard repertoire for trombone and piano as well as new arrangements of Rossini’s Overture to The Barber of Seville, the Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana, and the Adagietto from Mahler’s Symphony No. 5. Featured artists on the CD, which is being sold at the Cleveland Orchestra online store and at the retailer CD Baby, include pianist Elizabeth DeMio, who is on the faculty at the Cleveland Institute of Music, and pianist/clarinetist Teddy Abrams, currently a conducting fellow at the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, Florida. La Rosa, a native of Palermo, Italy, has served as Cleveland’s principal trombone since 2007; previously he was principal trombone at La Fenice Opera House, in Venice, Italy.
