Ohio’s Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra will be joined by choirs from the Dayton area for an April 7 program at the Dayton Masonic Center called Unity Through Harmony, led by Artistic Director Neal Gittleman. The concert will feature singers and musicians from Baptist churches, Jewish synagogues, and Catholic churches performing music from their traditions. The program will include the Sinfonia from Bach’s Cantata BWV 29, with DPO Principal Pianist Joshua Nemith on the Masonic Center organ; Phoenix in Exile by Syrian-American composer and pianist Malek Jandali; and sacred works in English, Spanish, Hebrew, Arabic, and Latin. After intermission, all vocal ensembles will combine to perform ecumenical songs from gospel and folk traditions. Choirs will include Dayton Jewish Chorale, Omega Baptist Church Choir, St. Mary Catholic Church Choir, St. Mary Catholic Church Ministerio de Música Hispano Nuevo Amanecer, University of Dayton Ebony Heritage Singers, and University of Dayton World Music Choir.
