Downtown Express, a new film starring classical violinist Philippe Quint and singer-songwriter Nellie McKay, is set to open at New York City’s Quad Cinema on April 20. The movie is directed by David Grubin (American Experience and Healing and the Mind with Bill Moyers for PBS) and produced by Michael Hausman (Brokeback Mountain, Gangs of New York, Amadeus) and tells the story of the romance between Russian immigrant and Juilliard student Sasha (Quint) and downtown musician Ramona (McKay). Quint wrote about his experience making the film in the Summer 2011 issue of Symphony. To watch the Downtown Express trailer, click here.
