The El Paso Symphony Orchestra and Music Director Bohuslav Rattay have announced that the orchestra’s 2021-22 season will open on September 24 with the first of six concerts, a program of music by Gershwin and Ravel with pianist Kevin Cole. Subsequent 2021-22 programs will feature the world premiere of a cantata by Jorge Martin paying tribute to victims and survivors of the August 3, 2019 mass shooting in El Paso, commissioned by Communities for Peace, a partnership of El Paso Opera, El Paso Pro-Musica, EPSO and the University of Texas at El Paso Music Department; a holiday program featuring music by Handel and John Williams; Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the University of Texas at El Paso Choral Union; and Respighi’s Pines of Rome and Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3 with pianist Natasha Paremski.
