California’s San Luis Obispo Symphony has named EMILY LANZONE​, the orchestra’s associate concertmaster since 2017, as ​concertmaster. She succeeds Brynn Albanese, who recently stepped down after playing with the SLO Symphony for ten years, three of them as concertmaster. Lanzone is also a member of the Santa Cruz Symphony and the Oregon Coast Music Festival in Coos Bay, Oregon, and is a frequent guest at California orchestras including those of Fresno, Santa Maria, Monterey, and Santa Barbara. Lanzone earned a bachelor of music degree in violin performance from the University of Oregon, a master of music degree from the University of Nevada, Reno, and a professional studies diploma from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Lanzone is a member of the music faculty at Cuesta College and California Polytechnic State University, maintains a private studio of violin and viola students, and is involved in SLO Symphony’s music education programs as an instructor of the Super Bows young string ensemble.
