California’s San Luis Obispo Symphony has named EMILY LANZONE, the orchestra’s associate concertmaster since 2017, as concertmaster. She succeeds Brynn Albanese, who recently stepped down after playing with the SLO Symphony for ten years, three of them as concertmaster. Lanzone is also a member of the Santa Cruz Symphony and the Oregon Coast Music Festival in Coos Bay, Oregon, and is a frequent guest at California orchestras including those of Fresno, Santa Maria, Monterey, and Santa Barbara. Lanzone earned a bachelor of music degree in violin performance from the University of Oregon, a master of music degree from the University of Nevada, Reno, and a professional studies diploma from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Lanzone is a member of the music faculty at Cuesta College and California Polytechnic State University, maintains a private studio of violin and viola students, and is involved in SLO Symphony’s music education programs as an instructor of the Super Bows young string ensemble.
