“The Erie Philharmonic announced Tuesday that Music Director Daniel Meyer has signed a new six-year contract to lead the orchestra through the summer of 2026,” reads an unsigned article in Tuesday’s (8/4) Erie News Now (northwestern PA). “Meyer has led the Erie Philharmonic since 2007.… ‘In spite of the disruption of COVID-19, Maestro Meyer continues to find creative ways to keep the music alive for our audiences right now,’ said Lisa Adams Gordon, President of the Board of Directors…. Also Tuesday, the Philharmonic announced it will present a series of free monthly concerts for the community. The concerts will be televised on Thursdays at 8 p.m. on WQLN beginning in October.… The concerts will be rebroadcast on Sundays at 2 p.m. and also made available on the Philharmonic’s Facebook page, YouTube channel and website.… If the pandemic subsides enough by Spring 2021 to allow the safe return to live stage performances, the Philharmonic will offer individual tickets for purchase. Currently, leaders from the Philharmonic are planning on a return to the stage at in the Fall of 2021 when the Warner Theatre reopens its doors after a massive renovation project.”
