The Florida Orchestra reports that its Music for Life fundraising campaign has reached $25 million in donations and pledges over a three-year period, the orchestra’s most ambitious fundraising goal to date. In a press release from the orchestra, Howard Jenkins, co-chairman of the Music for Life campaign and chairman of the Executive Committee for Publix Supermarkets, noted, “This successful campaign is an indication that our service is noticed and valued. We are hugely grateful, and see this support as a challenge to serve on a yet deeper level.” The Music for Life campaign has three components: the Annual Fund, which makes up one-third of the orchestra’s operating budget; the Artistic Initiative Fund, which helps create new series and supports such projects as the orchestra’s Accessibility Initiative and its collaboration with the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba; and the Endowment, which “provides long-term funding and allows TFO to take a limited number of strategic risks.” The orchestra also noted that it has posted a budget surplus for its fiscal year ended June 30.
