“David Schillhammer is jumping from executive director of the Enzian Theater in Maitland to executive director of the Brevard Symphony Orchestra in Melbourne,” writes Hal Boedeker in Monday’s (12/17) Orlando Sentinel (FL). “He assumes his new position in mid-January. Schillhammer had joined Enzian in January 2017 after 16 years as director of the Orlando Philharmonic…. He won praise for building the Philharmonic into one of Central Florida’s strongest arts organizations…. At the Brevard Symphony Orchestra, Schillhammer replaces Fran Delisle, who is retiring after 25 years in that role. Schillhammer was hired after a national search.” Schillhammer said in a statement, ‘I have loved every minute of my two years at Enzian … but my pull toward the orchestra business is quite strong, and I look forward to my new adventure with the Brevard Symphony…. I have known and followed the success of the orchestra over many years, and am now thrilled to join the team and plot its next chapter, in collaboration with the musicians, board, staff, volunteers, patrons and of course, Music Director Christopher Confessore.”
