On March 13, Colorado’s Fort Collins Symphony will present a family concert introducing the instruments of the orchestra, led by Music Director Wes Kenney and narrated by composer Gregory Smith. The interactive program, “The Animated Orchestra: A Musical Adventure for the Young and the Young at Heart,” will feature Rossini’s William Tell Overture, Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man, Joan Tower’s Fanfare for the Uncommon Woman, and the world premiere of Smith’s Shave and a Haircut. The orchestra has played Smith’s works before, including in 2018 when it commissioned VIBE, which was performed for more than 4,000 fourth- and fifth-graders from area schools.
