Two longtime supporters of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra in Texas, John and Fran Wasilchak, have given $21,000 to underwrite the first year of a new annual series of education programs for students in the Glen Rose Independent School District, approximately two hours from Fort Worth. Through the programs, which began in October, students in kindergarten through twelfth grade will annually attend two free FWSO concerts in Glen Rose, and high school band students will have the opportunity to participate in masterclasses with FWSO principal players, receiving individual and ensemble instruction. Students will also attend behind-the-scenes rehearsals and educational concerts at Bass Hall in Fort Worth. “Through this program,” said FWSO Vice President of Development Amy Adkins, “a kindergarten student will interact with the FWSO more than 30 times by the time they graduate.” The new program joins the FWSO’s existing Adventures In Music program, which educates more than 65,000 children throughout Texas each year.
