In Saturday’s (8/23) Western Mail (Cardiff, Wales), Karen Price writes that harpist Catrin Finch has “introduced a new Classical Cafe series at Acapela Studio in Pentyrch, near Cardiff, which she runs with her record producer husband Hywel Wigley.… These concerts have a relaxed vibe and audiences are encouraged to sit back with their drinks from the bar as they listen to the music unfold around them. And at the end of each event, they’re asked to become X Factor-style judges and vote for their favourite performance.… Finch … launched the event in June and it was such a success that it’s now going to be held every other month and will feature two instrumentalists and two singers.… ‘Classical music has that image of being a staid, more conservative evening for the older market, but I think that’s changing…. Younger people don’t enjoy the process of going out to listen to it, but they do listen to it at home so a lot of work needs to be done in the presentation of it… This is a chance for people to hear classical music in a slightly different way than a concert hall.’ “
