The Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra will unveil its first Hilton Head International Young Artist Piano Competition for ages 13 to 17, with the inaugural event to be held from March 7 to 12 in Hilton Head, South Carolina. The competition will be offered in odd-numbered years, alternating with the orchestra’s existing piano competition for young artists aged 18 to 30. For this year’s competition, 20 competitors representing six countries—Korea, Russia, Indonesia, China, Singapore, and the United States—will be judged in three rounds of competition, with the six finalists performing a movement from a concerto with the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra on March 12. The competition winners will receive a total of $16,000 in awards, plus one four-week summer scholarship to the Aspen Music Festival and School in Aspen, Colorado, valued at $4,500.
